Open Gender Journal is published by the Fachgesellschaft Geschlechterstudien (Gender Studies Association), the Margherita von Brentano Center for Gender Studies, Freie Universität Berlin, Gender Studies in Cologne (GeStiK), University of Cologne, the Center for Transdisciplinary Gender Studies, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, and the Gender Research Office, University of Vienna. 

The publishing institutions are financially and legally responsible for the operation of the journal and advise the editorial team in scientific, ethical and organisational matters.
