Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • I am aware that the content of my paper will be reviewed. (It is possible that the paper will not be accepted for publication, or that I will be asked to rework it or to take it in another direction.)
  • All rights for the submitted paper are held by me (the author) and if applicable by the other stated authors. I have marked all verbatim or analogue uses of other works. I am aware that texts in which infringements to this rule are detected will be taken down after publication, and the article will be marked visible to the public as withdrawn with the naming of the exact infringement.
  • I have included information on the respective copyright holders of illustrations and material used in the submitted paper. (Additional files such as images or attached files can be uploaded in Step 4. of the submission process.)
  • I have observed the Section Policy and the Style Guide including the journal's citation style in the drafting of my paper.

Author Guidelines

Contributions can be submitted at any time. Before submitting, please consult the style guide of our journal with notes on spelling, citation style and formatting of literature references and the following information on the journal's sections.

Research Articles

In the section "Research Articles", first publications are published that make an independent scientific contribution to Gender Studies. All contributions undergo a double-anonymous peer review. Please note that we will only include submitted articles in the peer review process if they meet the formal requirements for a scientific article (e.g. working on a research question, consideration of the state of research, transparent use of methods, concepts and terms). The maximum length of an article is 50,000 characters including spaces.

querelles-net: Reviews

The section "querelles-net: Reviews" contains reviews of publications from all thematic areas of Gender Studies. Academic reviews provide an overview of important new publications and current research foci. They serve not only as a source of information, but also as independent contributions in which the positioning and contextualisation of the research results discussed is sought. Both printed and electronically published works are reviewed.

Please find our current list of new publications for review as well as the editorial contact to make a suggestion under Write a review

Forum

Gender Studies thrives on controversy. In the "Forum" section, authors take up current debates within Gender Studies and thus provide impulses for the development of the field. The submitted essays, dialogues and debates are selected by an editorial team. We particularly welcome contributions that continue existing debates in gender studies and in which forms of knowledge acquisition/transmission and scientific criticism are realised beyond the research article.

If you would like to submit a contribution, please send an abstract to the editorial team (forum@opengenderjournal.de), stating your concern, your objectives and the planned form.
