Abstract

Chick lit, ursprünglich als angloamerikanisches, ‘weißes’, heterosexuelles Mittelklassephänomen im Stil von „Bridget Jones’s Diary“ (1996) definiert, hat sich rasch verändert und neben Genre und Gender auch kulturelle, geographische und linguistische Grenzen überschritten. Es herrscht weitgehend Konsens darüber, dass es sich um einen Transfer vom ‚originalen’ Genre zu zahlreichen adaptierten Subgenres, vom ‚Zentrum’ in die ‚Peripherie’ handelt. Um diese andro- wie auch eurozentrische Genreklassifizierung infrage zu stellen, eignet sich eine queer-feministische Perspektive; insbesondere, wenn sie einem Sex/Gender-Zentrismus, der andere soziale Ungleichheitskategorien wie ‚race’/‚Ethnizität’ hintanstellt, ebenso kritisch gegenübersteht wie der Heteronormativität. Durch solch ein intersektional ausgerichtetes Queer Reading der Chick lit wird die Marginalisierung und Homogenisierung zeitgenössischer Literatur von, über und/oder für Frauen* durch gegenderte und ethnisch markierte Labelingpraktiken aufgezeigt.
