The editors of this anthology, part of the book series ‘Politik und Geschlecht’ published by the section of the same name in the German Political Science Association, see the book as a starting point for the larger open access project ‘Living Handbook Politik und Geschlecht’. The volume is divided into three subsections and contains 21 contributions. These contributions are consistently interesting, knowledgeable and written to a high academic standard, which is why they are not all equally suitable for academic teaching. The compilation of contributions is more of a hodgepodge than a consistent introduction to or overview of gender research in political science. Unfortunately, it remains unclear how the anthology is supposed to and can become a Living Handbook.
