Abstract

Diese Studie untersucht die Übersetzung queerer Sprache, Elemente und Themen in audiovisuellen Medien durch eine Vergleichsanalyse der italienischen Fassung des Films „If These Walls Could Talk II“, der 2000 von HBO produziert wurde, und der britischen Serie „Sex Education“, die erstmals im Januar 2019 auf Netflix veröffentlicht wurde. Mehrere Wissenschaftler*innen haben die Rolle queerer Themen in Übersetzungen untersucht und die Tendenz betont, potenziell problematische oder ideologisch markierte Konzepte in der Zielkultur zu zensieren. Ziel ist es, die Aufmerksamkeit auf den Grad der Zensur, die Strategien im Zusammenhang mit der Produktions- und Vertriebszeit, das Genre und die Rezeption im Rahmen einer diachronen Analyse zu lenken, die audiovisuelle Produkte berücksichtigt, die mit einem Abstand von fast zwanzig Jahren veröffentlicht wurden. Die Ergebnisse zeigen eine enge Beziehung zwischen vorherrschender Weltanschauung, Zeitlichkeit und Zensur in der italienischen Wiedergabe queerer Sprache und bieten neue Perspektiven für den Umgang mit der Sprache queerer Themen.

Autor/innen-Biografie

Miriam Cuscito, Universität Cassino

Miriam Cuscito ist Doktorandin der Universität Cassino. Ihr Master-Studium moderner Sprachen an der Universität von Salento hat sie mit einer Arbeit über LGBTIQ+-Übersetzungen abgeschlossen. Im Jahr 2023 erwarb sie einen weiteren Master in Digital Humanities an der Universität Mailand. Sie hat an der Erstellung eines diachronen Korpus der italienischen journalistischen Sprache mitgewirkt und arbeitet an Studien in der historischen Linguistik und den digitalen Geisteswissenschaften mit. Zu ihren Forschungsinteressen gehören die Ethik der textuellen Normalisierung in historischen Texten, Gender, Disability und Queer Studies. Als leidenschaftliche Literaturwissenschaftlerin erforscht sie gerne unbekannte Perspektiven auf das bekannte Leben und die Realität.
