Abstract

Anke Graneß, Martina Kopf and Magdalena Kraus present a readable and clearly structured introduction to "non-Western" feminist theories of the second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century and encourage further research. The book presents selected theorists and their concepts as well as central debates, which are divided partly by region - the focus is on sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East and Spanish-speaking Latin America - and partly by topic - postcolonial theory and criticism, feminism in Islam and ecofeminism. In the process, Eurocentrism in thought and terminology is reflected upon and it is reminded that feminist theory is in interplay with lived social and political practice.
